Police Probe Multiple Fatal Incidents Across Six Counties

Authorities are investigating a series of violent deaths and fatal incidents across several counties, including Kiambu, Migori, Kirinyaga, Kilifi, Meru, and Siaya.

In Juja, Kiambu County, police arrested a couple on Wednesday after they reported the death of their three-year-old son. Officers stated that the boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigating officers observed visible injuries on the child, believed to be from abuse, despite the couple claiming he died from a fall. The body has been transferred to a local mortuary for an autopsy, and the couple is expected to appear in court.

In Kegonga, Kuria, Migori County, a man strangled his one-year-old stepdaughter during a domestic dispute with his mother. Police reported that the man redirected his anger towards the child. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene and moved the body to the mortuary. Investigations are ongoing.

In Piai, Kirinyaga County, a woman named Mary Njeri Chuka suffered fatal injuries during a domestic altercation with a man she lived with. Police tracked the suspect to his hideout in Kathanjuri and arrested him, pending charges of murder.

In Kijipwa, Kilifi County, a 22-year-old man, Baraka Haro, was found dead after falling from a rooftop while attempting to steal construction materials. Police indicated that his body, showing head injuries consistent with a fall, was moved to the mortuary for further examination.

In Runogone, Meru County, officers discovered a 48-year-old man’s body in a house following a fire incident. The body has been sent to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigations.

In Kogelo, Siaya County, a tragic incident occurred when a 14-year-old boy drowned in River Yala. The Grade Seven pupil, along with classmates, had gone to fetch water for the school. Reports indicate that the students decided to swim, and the victim was swept away by the current. Despite efforts to raise the alarm, he drowned. A search for his body continues, with only his clothing found on the riverbank. The school community mourns the loss, and locals have joined the search efforts. Police noted that there were three drowning cases reported on Wednesday.
