
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua praised Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Vincent Rotich for his strong performance in the Emurua Dikirr by-election, highlighting its significant impact on political dynamics in the South Rift region.
In a statement on his social media on May 15, 2026, Gachagua congratulated Rotich for securing 10,760 votes, which he deemed a remarkable achievement in a competitive race.
He noted that this performance indicated a growing political awareness among voters and signaled that new political movements are gaining traction in areas traditionally dominated by established parties.
“Congratulations to DCP candidate Hon. Vincent Rotich for a splendid performance that has transformed South Rift politics, which has lagged behind for over 60 years. Achieving 10,760 votes is impressive,” Gachagua stated.
He also commended Rotich’s campaign team, especially the women who campaigned tirelessly, emphasizing that Kenya remains hopeful for a brighter future thanks to their efforts.
