
EALA MP Kanini Kega has confirmed the passing of his mother, Mama Ann Nyatoro Ndung’u, on Friday, May 8, 2026. Kega shared the news with deep sorrow, expressing, “I am devastated and heartbroken. It is well with my soul, yet it is difficult to accept that my mother has found her rest. This pain is profound.”
In a statement released on the same day, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua conveyed his condolences, revealing that Kega received the heartbreaking news upon arriving in the United Kingdom for a scheduled visit. Gachagua remarked, “It is with profound sadness that I have learned of Mama Ann Nyatoro Ndung’u’s passing early today. Just yesterday, I entrusted you with an assignment, only for you to arrive and receive such tragic news. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this challenging time. I also extend my prayers to the larger family of Simon Ndung’u Mutitu, as well as to friends and relatives who are grieving.”
Gachagua honored Ann Nyatoro as a devoted matriarch who tirelessly worked to educate her children, noting that her kindness remains a cherished memory in her village. He stated, “The loss of a mother is an immense sorrow; may God grant you and your family the strength to endure this loss.
