Ruto Arrives in Italy for Key State Trade and Investment Visit

President William Ruto has arrived in Italy for a three-day state visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between Kenya and Italy.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi confirmed Ruto’s arrival on Monday, April 20, 2026. In his announcement, Mudavadi emphasized that the visit will involve high-level discussions focused on securing strategic partnerships and agreements that will bolster economic cooperation and elevate Kenya’s standing on the global stage.

“Today, I led the Kenyan delegation in welcoming H.E. President @WilliamsRuto to Rome, Italy, where he will engage in high-level discussions over the next few days. Our objective is to secure strategic partnerships and agreements that enhance economic cooperation and elevate Kenya’s global profile,” Mudavadi stated.

Regarding Ruto’s visit, Mudavadi previously shared insights that highlighted its significance in promoting Kenyan exports and positioning the nation as an appealing destination for Italian investment across key sectors.

“Preparations are proceeding smoothly in anticipation of H.E. President @WilliamsRuto’s State Visit to Italy, following a comprehensive briefing on the visit’s priorities and expected outcomes,” Mudavadi noted.

Mudavadi stated that the upcoming engagements will center on strengthening Kenya-Italy cooperation, aligning development priorities, and unlocking new opportunities in trade, investment, and strategic partnerships.

Key outcomes from this visit are expected to include mobilizing financing for priority projects, signing new Memoranda of Understanding, and accelerating existing bilateral agreements, all designed to deliver tangible benefits to Kenyans.
