IEBC appoints Michael Ouma to replace Chris Msando as Director of ICT

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Friday, March 11 announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Ouma to be the Commission’s Director in charge of Information Communication and Technology (ICT).

In a statement issued by its chairman Wafula Chebukati, the electoral body also appointed Crispin Otieno Owiye as the legal services and public affairs director and while Ms Ruth Kulundu was appointed deputy commission secretary in charge of operations.

Mr. Ouma replaces the late Chris Msando who was in charge of Kenya’s computerised voting system but was severely tortured and strangled to death a few days to the 2017 general election.

Earlier, the Commission appointed Mr. Marjan Hussein Marjan as the CEO of the IEBC, four years after the exit of Ezra Chiloba. Mr. Marjan has been acting as CEO for the Comission.
