Kenya’s Deputy president was on Monday blocked from leaving the country to Entebee Uganda for private tour.
The deputy president was kept waiting for clearance at the Wilson airport for more than five hours, the immigration department demanded him to produce his birth certificate and a letter from his local chief.
When contacted the head of public service Francis Kinyua said he was not aware of such development. The ministry of interior led by CS Matiang’i was also not aware of what led to the blocking if the DP.
The DP took it to tweeter to express his disappointment after a 5hrs wait at Wilson Airport.
Since handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga the good working relationship that the president and his deputy enjoyed in their first term has been diminishing.
The deputy president openly opposed the proposed constitutional amendments being led by his boss. In what was seen to be directly targeting his deputy, president Uhuru Kenyatta recently made a statement that he will never hand power to a thief.
The marriage between the president and his deputy might be coming to a bitter end, with the DP focused at building his UDA party.
