The police on Monday morning arrested the Kimilili member of parliament Didmus Barasa at his home for assault.
According to the Kimilili OCPD Lawrence Marao, Didmus Barasa will be charged with assault causing grievous harm after a viral video of him slapping a contractor in school was shared.
“Yes, he has been arrested. He is expected to be arraigned this morning for plea taking,” said Mr. Marao.
There was drama at the Baptist Lurare primary school in Kimilili constituency, Bungoma county after the area MP resolved to beat up a contractor who prevented him from commissioning the newly built five classrooms demanding that he gets paid first.
MP Didmus Barasa arrived at the school for the event only to find that popular Luhya musician Steven Masinde alias Steve Kay and Ronald Graham Wafula had locked the five classes they built at a cost of Kshs. 3.4 million through the National Constituency Development Fund.
The two who were in charge of the construction claimed that the legislator has been giving them a wide berth whenever they ask him to pay the money.
