Aydin was arrested at Wilson Airport when his flight landed from Uganda and taken to the Anti Terror Unit offices on Ngong Road where he has been detained for interrogations.

The arrest of Aydin is pointer to further escalation of the botched Uganda trip with media reports that Aydin’s activities in the region have roused suspicions in the region.

Deputy President William Ruto and his allies have defended Aydin from allegations of his possible involvement in terrorism insisting that Aydin is an investor who shouldn’t be harrased.

Kipseret MP Oscar Sudi who was at the airport to receive Aydin accompanied him to the Anti Terror Police unit offices in Ngong Road but was denied entry.

Deputy president William Ruto has weighed in on the arrest saying on his twitter “Turkish investor, Aydin Harun, is a victim of top-down arrogance bred by patronage & cartels that criminalise enterprise. Importers’ goods declared contraband, Africa spirits closed, Keroche harassed, now investor with valid papers labelled terrorist.Tragedy of political pettiness.”
