SK Macharia Dismisses Raila Health Rumours, Says ODM Leader Is Fine

Royal Media Services Chairman Samuel Kamau Macharia, popularly referred as SK Macharia, has dismissed growing speculation about Raila Odinga’s health, assuring Kenyans that the ODM supremo is in good condition and recovering well in India.

Speaking in Siaya County on Monday, October 13, 2025, during a boda boda empowerment drive attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Macharia said he has been in constant contact with Odinga and that there is no cause for alarm.

“I spoke to Raila this morning. He is healthy, lively, and in good spirits. He will be back home soon,” Macharia said.

I’ll Never Leave the Jaramogis

The media mogul, who has long been close to the Odinga family, recalled a promise he made to the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga to stand by his sons, Raila and Oburu. “When Oginga passed on, he left me his two sons. I have supported Raila in every election since 1992,” he said.

Macharia donated Ksh500,000 to support boda boda riders in Siaya and encouraged them to embrace digital registration and tracking systems for safety and accountability.

Opposition Flaming Rumours

Meanwhile, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has accused the United Opposition of spreading false information about Raila’s health.

In a statement released on Sunday, October 5, 2025, the party claimed that the group led by impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alongside Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, was behind a fresh round of misinformation.

“The same team that waged popaganda against Raila during his AU Commission chairmanship bid is now spreading lies about his health,” the statement read.

ODM assured supporters that Raila is well and will soon return to continue with his political engagements.
