Four Nairobi County Officers Injured in Attack During Demolition Exercise

Four officers from the Nairobi City County Government are receiving treatment after they were attacked on Friday while demolishing an illegal structure said to be obstructing a public road.

According to a statement from the county government, the officers were on official duty when a group of individuals allegedly mobilized and assaulted them, leaving several with serious head injuries.

“This kind of barbaric act is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the county said, condemning the incident as a grave act of impunity.

The statement emphasized that county officers carry out their duties within the confines of the law and urged the public to cooperate rather than confront enforcement teams responding to complaints from residents.

“Order and dignity cannot be compromised. We cannot live in a county where everyone believes the law should bend to their will,” the statement added.

The county further warned that those who organized, aided, or participated in the attack would be pursued and prosecuted.

“It should be clearly understood that assaulting county officers on duty is a serious offence. We will ensure that all responsible individuals are held fully accountable,” it read.

The county government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its officers, noting that “an attack on one officer is an attack on the entire County Government of Nairobi.”

The statement concluded with a stern reminder to the public: “Kanjo wa sasa sio kama wa zamani — don’t attack them.”
