Kasmuel McOure of the Orange Democratic Movement plans to keep up his attacks on Secretary General Edwin Sifuna. He accuses Sifuna of going beyond his duties with his statements.
On Friday, January 9, 2025, McOure spoke to a local radio station. He said he and the party’s youth wing will push hard for Sifuna’s removal. They want him out of ODM for good.
Sifuna must lose his party whip. McOure said they will keep lobbying on this. They argue Sifuna serves as a risky voice for others. For that reason, he needs to step down as SG. The SG job has clear rules. Yet Sifuna speaks from his own views. He ignores party agreements.
McOure added that Sifuna’s visit to Baba’s home to greet Mama changes nothing. They will still urge the party to remove him, just as Sifuna swayed other leaders.
McOure went further. He claimed Sifuna holds office against the rules. Sifuna did not win election at the National Delegates Conference. He got the post through affirmative action.
McOure spoke out as the party shows no clear path for the 2027 elections.
His words come while top leaders try to calm fights inside ODM.
ODM leader Oburu Oginga met with the clashing officials over the last two days.
On Wednesday, the acting party leader talked with Edwin Sifuna. On Thursday, he met Junet Mohammed at his Nairobi office.
ODM posted a statement on its X account after the Junet meeting. It said the National Assembly Minority Leader visited Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga that morning. They discussed party matters, growth, and national politics. The post ended with #TukoTayari.
These talks happened as efforts to remove Sifuna grew strong. Party leaders stepped in. They paused the push and suggested handling it inside the party.
