Manyora: Kisumu Rally Could Reshape Nyanza Political Balance

Political analyst Herman Manyora has emphasized that a successful Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisumu could deliver a significant message throughout the lakeside region. During his daily analysis on April 25, 2026, Manyora expressed concerns that efforts are underway to prevent the rally from occurring, with direct warnings issued to the Linda Mwananchi leaders indicating that the event will not take place.

He stated, “The impact of a well-attended rally in Kisumu is beyond the imagination of the opposing side; they cannot grasp the reality of such an event.”

Manyora argued that the rival faction, Linda Ground, within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), struggles to comprehend the implications of a successful Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisumu. He noted that if the event draws a large crowd, it would effectively signal a vote of no confidence in Oburu Odinga’s leadership, showcasing strong support for Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna from the Nyanza region.

“A successful rally in Kisumu will resonate across other counties in the Nyanza region; the influence of such an event, especially amidst threats and intimidation, cannot be underestimated,” he remarked.

Manyora further asserted that this outcome would reflect Sifuna’s faction’s embodiment of the spirit of the late Raila Odinga. He pointed out that the repercussions of a successful rally could extend to neighboring counties like Homa Bay, Migori, and Siaya, enhancing the group’s presence as they engage in these areas in the future.

“Following a successful rally in Kisumu, they will confidently move into Siaya, Migori, and Homa Bay,” he explained.

In contrast, Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi has issued warnings to the Linda Mwananchi team, asserting that the rally will neither take place nor achieve success. “First and foremost, it will not happen; there is no possibility of a successful rally unless the local community expresses interest,” Atandi stated.

He further claimed that the Linda Mwananchi team intends to bring in youths from various universities around Kisumu to bolster attendance, arguing that the local population lacks enthusiasm for the rally.
