Kuria Muchiru, Britam Chairman, Dies After Brief Illness

Kuria Muchiru, the esteemed chairman of the Britam Group Board, has passed away, a loss that reverberated through corporate circles following the announcement made by the company’s management on Friday.

In a public notice, Britam Holdings PLC expressed its sorrow, stating, “The Britam Board of Directors and Management is saddened to announce the passing of our Group Board Chairman, Kuria Muchiru, who left us today, March 19, 2026, after a brief illness.” The company extended heartfelt condolences to Muchiru’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to work alongside him, wishing him eternal peace.

His passing prompted a wave of tributes on social media, where colleagues and public figures celebrated Muchiru’s remarkable leadership and vision. Wildlife and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano conveyed her condolences, stating, “Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Britam fraternity. Muchiru’s impressive career was underpinned by strong academic and professional credentials. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Nairobi and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).

His 35-year tenure at PwC provided him with extensive experience in operations and the public sector, skills he effectively utilized to guide Britam’s strategic direction.
