he family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo has announced a KSh 5 million budget for her funeral, following her untimely death after a short illness. The news was shared during the first public mourning session, where fellow gospel artists, close friends, and fans gathered to pay tribute to the beloved musician.
Bayo, who was hospitalised at AAR Hospital, had been battling a serious illness before her passing. Her close friend and fellow gospel singer Shiru wa GP revealed that a large sum had already been raised by friends and well-wishers to help cover her medical expenses before her death. Despite their efforts, Betty succumbed to her illness, leaving behind a deep void in Kenya’s gospel music community.
During the service, veteran gospel artist Ben Githae disclosed that the family and funeral committee had set the funeral budget at KSh 5 million. The amount, he explained, would cater for hospital bills, funeral arrangements, transportation, and other related costs to ensure that Betty received a dignified send-off. Githae emphasized that the budget was not extravagant but a reflection of the respect and love the community had for the late singer, whose music inspired thousands across the country.
