West Brom Sack Eric Ramsay Amid Relegation Battle

West Bromwich Albion actively seeks a new manager as they strive to avoid relegation from the Championship. Currently positioned in 21st place, the team hovers precariously close to the relegation zone, with Leicester City trailing just a point behind, alongside Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday.

Following a series of disappointing performances, the club dismissed former manager Ryan Mason on January 6, 2026. James Morrison stepped in as interim manager but was soon joined by Eric Ramsay, who transitioned to the head coach role after a two-year tenure with Minnesota in Major League Soccer.

In a recent update on their official site, West Bromwich Albion announced Ramsay’s departure from the club after just one month in charge. The statement confirmed, “West Bromwich Albion have parted company with men’s first team Head Coach Eric Ramsay.” It further noted, “Assistant Head Coach Dennis Lawrence has also departed The Hawthorns. The club would like to express its gratitude to Eric and Dennis and wishes them well in their future endeavors.”

James Morrison will temporarily oversee first-team operations during this transitional phase. Ramsay’s brief tenure at West Brom marked his second head coaching role; he previously served as assistant manager for the Wales national team, as well as at Shrewsbury and Chelsea’s Under-23s. Before joining Wales, Ramsay honed his skills at Old Trafford, working under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, and Erik ten Hag.

At this juncture, West Bromwich Albion has yet to disclose its strategy moving forward, leaving fans and observers to speculate whether the club will appoint a new manager or allow James Morrison to guide the team through the remainder of the season.
