Ugenya politician Eng. Kelvin Opiyo, has voiced growing concerns over the numerous stalled development projects within the constituency.
Addressing residents and stakeholders, Kelvin urged the area MP, David Ochieng, to explain the delays surrounding key projects, starting with the Got Nanga-Bar Ober Road. The project, which was launched five years ago, remains only 26% complete despite allocated funds intended for its completion. Kelvin questioned why the road has not been prioritized for faster delivery and called for accountability on the matter.
Additionally, Kelvin raised questions about the status of the Awendo Stadium project. He revealed that land had been acquired and promises made, yet no visible progress has been made on the ground. He demanded clarity on when the project will commence.
Kelvin also criticized the transparency of the bursary award process in the region. He alleged that the process has been opaque, resulting in deserving students missing out on financial aid, while some beneficiaries appear to be connected to the MP’s allies.
Warning of possible action, Kelvin Opiyo stated that if these concerns are not addressed within 14 days, he will mobilize residents for mass demonstrations to demand answers from the relevant authorities.
The politician’s statements have sparked discussions among locals, many of whom share frustrations over the stalled projects and perceived lack of accountability.
