The (IEBC) on 4th June said that they have barred former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko from contesting in the upcoming Mombasa gubernatorial race.
In a press conference at the Bomas of Kenya, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said Sonko was barred as a result of his impeachment as Nairobi Governor which rendered him unfit to hold public office.
A defiant Sonko maintained that he had appealed his impeachment and therefore had the right to run for office.
