Detectives are actively investigating the murder of Officer Commanding Station (OCS) John Aduol, 55, whose body was discovered at a church compound in Siaya County. Locals alerted police on June 16, 2026, around 11:30 PM, after spotting the body near Last God’s Appeal Church in Rera village.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Aduol’s body showing signs of a fresh cut on his forehead, indicating a possible murder. The motive remains unclear.
Aduol had taken time off for specialized treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, after being referred from Tasia Hill Hospital in Nairobi due to acute amoebiasis and septic wounds. Instead of heading straight to the hospital, he returned to his home area in Siala Kaduol. On June 13, he sought refuge at the church for prayers, requesting to stay until June 20 for a scheduled crusade.
The church pastor, who left for a funeral on June 16 with two officials, returned around 5 PM to find Aduol unresponsive in the church compound and promptly informed the police. Investigators noted no signs of struggle but observed a minor forehead injury, possibly from a fall.
The scene has been processed, and the body is now at Yala Level IV Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Ongoing investigations include revisiting the scene and exploring various theories, including occultism.
