Man arraigned for scaring people with home-made piston

A man, by the name Isaac Kiprono, has been accused of causing panic among Kawangware residents with a home-made piston.

Mr Isaac Kiprono Amukoko was charged before Kibera senior principal magistrate, Mrs Monica Maroro, where he denied the charges. The police had found Mr Kiprono in possession of the fake firearm within the sprawling Congo area, Kawangware slums, Dagoretti North sub-county, Nairobi.

The home-made piston in question was found to have been made of crude ordinary metal, but was coated with metallic-black color. It was reported that Mr Kiprono has been flashing the fake firearm whenever need be, to instill fear on Congo residents. Before the principal magistrate, the accused denied the charges levelled against him by the the prosecution, which forced senior principal magistrate Monica Maroro to release him on 50,000 Kenya shillings cash bail, with surety of the same amount.

The accused is said to have used his home-made piston on 16th. December where the police officers responded on a tip by locals to finally nub the accused.

During this festive season, thugs are using home-made piston to rob innocent and unsuspecting locals. The police are now alerting people to be on an alert mode, and to report to police officers – who have been on the high alert – any suspicious move or incident around their locality.
