Peres Jepchirchir won the Olympic women’s marathon in a last minute dash that saw her out do Brigid Kosgei who came in second making it a one two medal swipe for Kenya. Molly Seidel from the United States of America came in third.
Jepchirchir clocked 2:27:20, 16 seconds ahead of Kosgei and 26 seconds in front of Seidel winning Kenya her second Gold medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
World record holder Bridgit Kosgey and world champion Ruth Chepngetich were favourites to win but Chepchirchir had other ideas.

About 11,000 athletes from 204 participating nations are competing in the games that will end on 8th August 2021. The Kenyan team is comprised of 49 Women and 38 men
