Olunga Shines as Al Arabi Edge Al Akhor 5–4 in a League Cup

Al Arabi’s captain Michael Olunga marks another outstanding performance after leading his team to a 5-4 victory over Al Akhor in the seventh round of the Qatar Stars League Cup, which was held on November 29, 2025.

Olunga scored a goal, sandwiched between Sarabia’s three goals.

The former Wolves player, who made the move to Arabi on a free transfer after his contract expired at the English club, was playing exceptionally well as Cosmin Contra’s team took a dominant 4-1 lead at the hour mark.

Nervy end
A decline in concentration level put the hosts in a position to restore parity after Arabi allowed two goals, narrowing the deficit to a goal difference.

Olunga and his team managed to hold on despite a tense finish, securing the win and earning a spot in the next round.

The win seals the club’s steady progress on both the league and cup competitions.

At present, the Qatar league champions occupy the 6th spot out of a total of 12 teams in the league standings. From 10 matches, they have amassed 16 points, with four victories and an equal number of draws, along with 18 goals scored and 12 allowed against them.

His outstanding performance on Sunday, November 24, 2025, earned him man-of-the-match honours in a match against Qatar SC, where he scored two goals in a clash against Al.

Al Arabi secured a dominant 5-1 win in the Doha Bank Stars League’s 10th round thanks to Olunga’s efforts.

Sarabia (24′, 40′) and Yazan Al-Naamat contributed other Al Arabi goals, with Al-Naamat securing the win with a strike in the 81st minute.

Ayunga’s Saints suffered a defeat.

On Saturday, Scotland’s St Mirren suffered a 3-1 loss to Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership, with Jonay Ayunga appearing as a substitute.

Ayunga has been finding it difficult to secure a regular starting position in recent times, as the Saints’ issues scoring goals persistently hinder their push for a top league position.

Following the loss, manager Stephen Robinson urged the team to demonstrate a different character when they next play on Monday, December 1, 2025.

It is essential that we unite at this moment. We will address the criticism and return with renewed determination on Monday.
