Kenya’s Oduor On the Spot as Grimsby Town Beat Everton U2 5–3

Kenya and Grimsby Town’s versatile star, Clarke Oduor, continued to impress by scoring his first goal in a commanding 5-3 victory against Everton U21 on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Oduor, who is on loan from Bristol City, found the back of the net just before the half time whistle, giving the Blundell Park-based outfit a 2-1 lead as they approached halftime.

This goal was significant, arriving shortly after he had been responsible for the visitors’ opening goal by losing possession, which led to the score.

The visitors’ first goal was scored by Beaumont-Clark.

However, the lead was brief, as the hosts responded with a goal from Jamie Walker before Oduor extended the lead.

Zak Gilsenan scored to make it 3-1 shortly after the break, just seven minutes into the second half during his first competitive start for the club.

In the second round, the Mariners will play National League Wealdstone. Grimsby, who stunned everyone by defeating English Premier League heavyweights Manchester United in the first round of the Carabao Cup, will be aiming for a repeat of their previous success.

The League Two team shocked Premier League heavyweights out of the cup competition during the match, and the Harambee Stars fullback had an incredible debut.

His new team had an improbable 2-0 lead over Ruben Amorim’s team when he was substituted in the 72nd minute. Bryan Mbeumo cut the deficit in the 75th minute, and Harry Maguire’s spectacular equalizer in the 89th minute forced extra time as Manchester United mounted a late comeback.

After a 2-2 draw in regular time, the match went to penalties. Oduor missed a spot kick that André Onana saved in a nerve-wracking shootout, but his teammates maintained their composure in an incredible match that ended 12–11 in favor of the League Two minnows, which saw off the Ruben Amorim’s charges.
