MP blames Azimio leaders for chaos in a funeral

Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo has called out Azimio leaders for chaos that were witnessed yesterday in a funeral in Ligega, Ugenya constituency.

The MP wondered why senior Azimio leaders consisting of Raila Odinga, Siaya County governor James Orengo and Minority Leader in the National Assembly James Opiyo Wandayi, among others, stayed put as Ugenya MP David Ochieng was heckled and roughed up by an unruly youth who were also in attendance.

The funeral service which was being conducted was former trade unionist and former Siaya County ODM chairman Mwalimu William Ohonde.
“I am asking the county commissioner to call leaders to a conversation around security in funerals. It is painful to fight in funerals when a family is grieving over the loss of a loved one,” he said.

The county commissioner told this press that the Siaya county security team is very alert to tame the rising incidents of political intolerance.

“I continue to urge our people to be tolerant irrespective of one’s political allegiance. However, if we find any form of incitement then we will start seeing people being arrested and taken to court,” Otieno stated.

“Our democracy has come of age and we should have known how to behave politically”.
