Morara Kebaso Speaks on Borabu Politics, CDF and Jubilee Move

Morara Kebaso, the newest member of the Jubilee Party, recently shared his insights on the role of local thuggery in Borabu’s political landscape during a radio interview on July 1, 2026. He is gearing up for a political showdown with the incumbent MP, Patrick Kibagendi Osero.

During the interview, Morara highlighted that political intimidation in rural areas is often more transparent because community members are easily identifiable.

“What I appreciate about the local thugs in Borabu is that everyone knows them. In Nairobi, for instance, it’s difficult to trace who orchestrated an attack. But in our villages, people recognize each other, and you can pinpoint individuals right down to their homes,” he explained.

Morara also commended the security officers accompanying him, noting their professionalism even in high-stress situations. “I’ve consistently had security personnel by my side. They act with professionalism and don’t escalate tensions unnecessarily,” he stated.

Reflecting on a recent incident with MP Osero, Morara recounted a tense moment when the MP attempted to seize the microphone from him during a public gathering. “The only time we nearly faced a serious issue was when the MP tried to grab the microphone from me. His bodyguard rushed in to intervene, and when my security team pushed back, they drew their weapons, while we did not respond in kind,” Morara recounted. “It seemed the MP might not have been in the best state of mind, as he didn’t offer any clarification after taking the microphone.”

As of the latest update, MP Patrick Osero had not responded to Morara’s comments, but this story will be updated if a reply is received.

Shifting focus to local governance, Morara raised concerns about the management of public funds in Borabu, especially regarding projects financed through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund. “The companies awarded CDF contracts are linked to the CDF Committee’s Chairperson and Secretary. They allocate jobs to themselves and receive payments without fulfilling the necessary work,” he pointed out, although he did not provide supporting documentation during the interview.

As of now, the Borabu CDF committee chairperson and secretary have not commented on these allegations, and this story will be updated should they respond.

Morara’s comments come shortly after his announcement of a political shift from the INJECT Party to the Jubilee Party. This transition aligns him with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who is establishing himself as a prominent figure for Jubilee in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.

Morara confirmed that the INJECT Party would be temporarily inactive as he navigates the political landscape of Borabu and the broader Gusii region. “INJECT Party will take a back seat for a while,” he noted. “Aligning with Jubilee makes sense, given that it’s Matiang’i’s party and he holds significant influence in the area where I plan to run.”

His strategic decision enhances the national significance of the Borabu race, connecting a local parliamentary contest to Jubilee’s broader strategy for 2027 and highlighting Matiang’i’s rising prominence in the Gusii region.
