Garissa Town MP Aden Duale ousted from House Majority leadership

Garissa town Member of Parliament Aden Duale has been removed from the National Assembly’s majority leadership. The removal follows a pattern that has seen Jubilee Party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta conduct in house cleaning exercise targeting those perceived to be disloyal to the President’s agenda.

The purge happened at a meeting called by President Kenyatta at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) that saw Duale replaced by Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya who will now lead government business in the National Assembly.

Other lined up for disciplinary action include Hon. Kimani Ichungwa and Hon. William Cheptumo who were removed from their positions as Chairs of Budget and Justice Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committees respectively. Their positions were filled by Kieni legislator Hon. Kanini Kega and Kangema legislator Hon. Muturi Kigano in that order.
