Gor Mahia have today received a brand new 42-seater bus courtesy of Cabinet Secretary for Information Technology (ICT) Eliud Owalo.
The news has come as a relief to the 18-times record Kenya Premier League champions after a long wait without a bus – which followed the controversial towing of their older one which was carted away by auctioneers following an order from one of their former players Wellington Ochieng.
Since their bus was towed away by auctioneers, which Wellington Ochieng had ordered following the club’s failure to pay him his dues, K’ogalo have never had a club bus which they would be using to ferry players whenever they have a domestic engagement with other local clubs.
The CS Eliud Owalo had promised Gor Mahia that he’d buy them a brand new bus if they win last season’s Kenya Premier League. True to his word, today the CS gifted ‘Sirkal’ with the bus he had promised.
Of late, Owalo has been a very ardent supporter of Gor Mahia, something that other people have misconstrued to mean that he’d be positioning himself to take over as the club’s patron, a position that is currently being held by non other than the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Gor have not had a convincing run this season, something that has left them in second position in the league table, one point behind leaders Poster Rangers. However, it is too early in the day to rule out K’ogalo, since they’ve dominated the KPL for more than ten years in the recent past, with 2015 being the year they won the league unbeaten.
Now that the bus has been bought, it’s now apparent that it is a big stride that the club have made towards solving their perrenial financial problems.
