
A two times world 800m record holder David Rudisha yesterday survived a plane crash, alongside six other passengers.
The plane that carried the athlete together with the other six passengers, crashed at a place called Imbirikana area, in Kajiado County. Among those six who were on board was Kenya Defence Forces athletics chairman Stephen Ole Marai.
Speaking to the press on the unfortunate incident, Athletics Kenya committee member Barnaba Korir allayed any fears, and confirmed that the injured passengers were already being treated in a hospital in Makindu.
“I have talked to both Ole Marai and David Rudisha. They are being attended to and they are out of any danger,” said Korir.
The world beater (David Rudisha) had attended the Annual Masai Olympics event at Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary, in Kajiado South, where he had been received by Kimana ward MCA James Kuya in the morning.
The event was also graced by the Kajiado County Governor Mr Joseph Ole Lenku.
David Rudisha is a two times world 800-m record holder.
The cause of the plane crash was not established immediately.
