Kisumu county government has been dealt a blow by the law court following the suspension of the gazette notice that increased the land rates in the county.
The court ruling come in the wake of a case that was filed by a Kisumu resident accusing the county government of not involving the residents through public participation.
As a result, Justice Anthony Ombwayo of Environment and Lands Court ordered the Kisumu county government that the revised rates should be suspended to February 24th this year when the matter will have been heard.
While issuing the ruling, Judge Anthony Ombwayo further ruled that no person, business or any entity should submit the proposed rates until the matter is heard and concluded by the court.
