A focused police operation has successfully resulted in the arrest of two individuals linked to illicit activities and the recovery of significant quantities of illegal alcohol in Dirubi Village, Kisumu County.
In a statement released on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) reported that officers from Maraboi Police Post, in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), executed a raid on the premises of a suspected illicit brew manufacturer following credible intelligence regarding the illegal operation.
During the raid, officers discovered the two individuals actively involved in the production of illicit alcohol. They seized approximately 100 liters of kangara, 60 liters of chang’aa, and distillation equipment believed to have been utilized in the illegal brewing process.
The arrested individuals have been taken to Maraboi Police Post, where they will remain in custody pending their court appearance. The confiscated alcohol and equipment have been secured as evidence at the station.
As part of an ongoing initiative, the NPS emphasized that this operation aligns with its commitment to combat the manufacture, distribution, and consumption of illicit brews, which authorities recognize as a significant threat to public health and safety.
“This operation highlights the National Police Service’s unwavering dedication to addressing the illegal alcohol trade,” the statement emphasized.

In related news, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has initiated a nationwide crackdown on illicit brews. The CS announced this initiative on Monday, August 18, during the Jukwaa la Usalama forum held in the county.
“Our primary focus is addressing the production of second-generation alcohol. We are particularly concerned that some licensed manufacturers are engaging in the adulteration of legitimate alcohol,” Murkomen stated.
