Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front Party, has announced that residents of Western Kenya have decisively turned against President William Ruto and his administration after the opposition’s multi-county Komboa Kenya Karavan tour.
Following the tour’s conclusion on June 14, 2026, Kalonzo emphasized that the United Alternative Government coalition received a strong mandate from the public. He highlighted that frustrations over economic struggles, governance issues, and unfulfilled promises have become impossible for the government to overlook.
“As we wrap up the Komboa Kenya Karavan in Western Kenya, the call for change is unmistakable and loud,” Kalonzo stated.
The tour showcased significant public discontent with the Kenya Kwanza administration, as large crowds reflected a deeper frustration with failed leadership and broken promises, according to Kalonzo.
The Komboa Kenya Karavan featured key opposition figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, who engaged with communities across several counties to rally support for the upcoming 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo raised alarms about a culture of impunity and lawlessness, citing alarming incidents that have sparked public outcry. He remarked, “When goonism becomes normalized and public resources are looted without consequences, something is fundamentally wrong.”
He argued that these issues have fueled public anger and calls for political change.
Kalonzo also criticized the proposed Ebola research facility in Laikipia County, which has drawn scrutiny from opposition leaders demanding transparency regarding its funding and management. “Amid all these challenges, someone casually decides to set up an Ebola facility in Kenya,” he noted.
As the tour concluded, Kalonzo shared that a unified message emerged from residents: “From Kitale to Chwele, the message is clear: Jibu tu ni lile lile. WANTAM.” This slogan has become a rallying cry for those advocating for political change in the upcoming election.
Kalonzo’s statements highlight the intensifying competition for influence in Western Kenya, a key region for the 2027 presidential race. The tour coincided with efforts from both government and opposition leaders to secure support in this vital area.
