Detectives are actively investigating a murder after an unidentified man’s decomposing body was found at the Dandora dumpsite in Nairobi.
An excavator operator discovered the grim scene around 1 PM on Friday while unloading waste. Alerted by onlookers who noticed a human hand sticking out of the garbage, he paused his work, confirmed the remains, and reported it to the authorities.
Police arrived and identified the body as that of an African male in his early 30s. The remains, in advanced decomposition, had part of the head and both lower limbs visible, while the rest was buried under the waste. Using the excavator, they retrieved the body, which crime scene investigators from Buruburu processed.
Initial findings suggest the man may have died elsewhere before being dumped at the site. The remains are now at the Nairobi City Mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, police in Kakamega South Subcounty have begun investigations after a woman’s body was found floating in River Yala on Friday morning. The Assistant Chief of Savane Sub-location reported the discovery at around 9:20 AM after locals spotted the body near Busirikwa Village.
Officers confirmed the find and, with local help, retrieved the body, which was taken to Kakamega General Hospital mortuary. The deceased’s identity remains unknown, and authorities plan a post-mortem to determine the cause of death as they continue their investigation.
