Ruto Dismisses ‘Ruto Must Go’ Chants, Focuses on Performance

President William Ruto confidently addressed the rising “Ruto Must Go” and “One Term” chants, viewing them as a natural part of democracy. During a media roundtable in Wajir, he welcomed Kenyans’ freedom to express their opinions, including political slogans aimed at his administration.

He emphasized that these chants, which gained traction during the 2024 Finance Bill protests, won’t dictate Kenya’s leadership. Instead, he believes voters will evaluate leaders based on their performance and vision for the country.

Ruto proudly highlighted his administration’s achievements in key areas like the economy, agriculture, healthcare, housing, and education. He noted significant progress in tackling inflation and improving exchange rates, assuring Kenyans of his commitment to economic stability.

In agriculture, he pointed out lower fertilizer prices and increased earnings for farmers, showcasing an 80% rise in meat exports. He also celebrated the transition to the Social Health Authority, which has expanded coverage and funding for health facilities.

Ruto championed the Affordable Housing Programme as a tangible transformation across communities. In education, he proudly announced the hiring of 100,000 teachers, marking a historic milestone.

While acknowledging persistent anti-government sentiments, Ruto affirmed that elections hinge on performance, not slogans. He encouraged opponents to showcase their records and plans, inviting healthy competition.

Ultimately, he believes Kenyans will choose leaders based on their ability to address pressing issues like education, youth opportunities, and security, rather than mere chants.
