The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has unveiled an exciting opportunity, offering over 54,000 teaching and promotion positions in one of its most extensive recruitment campaigns. This initiative aims to support unemployed teachers and current educators looking to advance their careers.
Among the available positions, TSC has announced 20,000 permanent and pensionable roles for post-primary teachers to serve in Junior Schools, alongside 34,016 promotion opportunities across various teaching and administrative grades.
The TSC published these openings in the MyGov Weekly Review on July 28, 2026, as part of its commitment to enhance staffing under the Competency Based Education (CBE) programme.
20,000 Vacancies for Junior School Teachers
TSC invites qualified teachers to apply for 20,000 post-primary teaching positions in Junior Schools, essential for the successful implementation of Competency Based Education.
“The Teachers Service Commission encourages all qualified candidates to submit their applications for 20,000 post-primary teacher roles in Junior Schools,” states the notice.
Candidates can apply online through the commission’s website in the Careers section or via the Teachers Online portal. The application portal opens on August 18, 2026, and will close at midnight on August 31, 2026.
To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens, registered with the Teachers Service Commission, and possess at least a diploma in education with a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects or equivalent qualifications.
Additionally, candidates must be unemployed and should not have left the teaching service on disciplinary grounds.
The commission will conduct the recruitment based on merit, considering the number of vacancies available in each county. Successful candidates will teach various learning areas under the Junior School curriculum, while teacher interns who secure employment will remain in their current positions.

Commission Warns Against Fraud
TSC emphasizes that all applications must be submitted online, as manual applications will not be accepted.
Applicants must present original academic and professional certificates during the recruitment process and are advised to submit only one application for employment.
The commission reminds applicants that the recruitment exercise is entirely free of charge and warns the public against fraudsters attempting to exploit the process for monetary gain.
Any cases of suspected fraud should be reported to the nearest TSC office, the Director of Staffing, the Deputy Director of Staffing, or the nearest police station.
