Wajackoyah Backs Orengo’s Linda Mwananchi, Eyes 2027 Race

Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has called on those seeking change in the country to align themselves with Siaya Governor James Orengo’s Linda Mwananchi faction and himself.

During the interment of the son of Uyumo MCA in Kokwiri Sub-location, Siaya County, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the outspoken presidential hopeful for 2027 affirmed his party’s alignment with Orengo’s faction.

Wajackoyah, who has recently adopted a lower political profile, confirmed his intention to run for the presidency again, emphasizing that the Roots Party stands as a sister party to the late Raila Odinga’s party and Orengo’s faction.

He encouraged Rarieda MP Otiende Omollo, who attended the event, to make an informed decision and join Orengo’s team.

“Those who truly seek change should follow Orengo and me, Otiende, my brother, it’s time to decide wisely,” Wajackoyah asserted.

The dynamic politician criticized leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) who have aligned themselves with the Broad-Based Movement to support Ruto in 2027, arguing that their motives stem from personal interests rather than the community’s well-being.

He elaborated that Raila’s strategy involved supporting the government until 2027, after which the late leader would seek ways to secure the presidency from Ruto. Wajackoyah praised Linda Mwananchi for its commitment to advocating for the rights of the people.

“Raila stated we will support the government until 2027, and then we will take over; many in the broad-based movement are there due to personal connections,” Wajackoyah remarked.

This announcement coincides with a period when Orengo and his Linda Mwananchi faction have been vocally critical of the current administration. During the funeral, Orengo pledged that Linda Mwananchi would persist in advocating for the public, grounded in the principles of ODM.

Following a hiatus during Ramadan, Linda Mwananchi has resumed its political activities.

A significant rally is scheduled in Narok Town on Friday, March 27, 2026, coinciding with a parallel National Delegates Conference (NDC) in Nairobi, termed the People’s NDC; simultaneously, the Oburu Odinga-led ODM faction will also host their conference.

On March 29, 2026, a major rally is set to take place at the historic Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa.
