Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has applauded the recently appointed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chair, Oburu Odinga, for his handling of contrary opinions within the organization.
Speaking during a broadcast on a morning radio program on Tuesday, November 13, 2025, Amisi stated that minimal individuals anticipated Oburu would exhibit the extent of guidance he has demonstrated since assuming command of the party.
He lauded him for inviting dissenting viewpoints to the discussion and involving them in deliberations regarding the party’s onward path without demonizing them or labeling them as spies for the United Opposition or supporters of previous Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Amisi highlighted that since taking charge, Oburu has convened sessions with Embakasi MP Babu Owino and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, both of whom have voiced divergent perspectives on the party’s trajectory.
“And I want to, I want to really give it to Oburu Odinga, because people never expected that he would actually, you know, show some level of leadership. I saw him call Babu, you know; I saw him call Sifuna. You know, I have seen him calling people of this dissent and voices and saying, No, we are. We will. We will. Will not just be in a broad base. We will make a decision later,” Amisi remarked.
He reprimanded other figures, like Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, for not displaying leadership despite occupying significant roles inside the party.
In Amisi’s view, her address at Raila Odinga’s interment suggested a restricted comprehension of Raila’s inheritance, as she dedicated a large portion of it to lauding the administration while asserting that ODM would stay in the opposition.
Addresses at Raila’s funeral
He additionally drew comparisons with the addresses delivered by Oburu and Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga during the same funeral, noting that their statements better mirrored Raila’s principles.
“You can see the speeches of Ruth Odinga. These are siblings to the enigma. They grew up together and have seen Raila since he was just a child. Now, can you compare those speeches with Wanga’s?” Amisi posited.
Based on Amisi’s assessment, these figures are the ones most suited to steer the organization proficiently.
