Raila Odinga’s long serving personal assistant (PA) Dennis Onyango has asked Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), and by extension the entire Luo community to rally behind President William Ruto in 2027.
Dennis Onyango, while speaking in a meeting in South Nyanza, asked his audience to stop pretending that ODM would produce a formidable candidate now who is able to rally the whole Kenya behind him or her the same way Raila used to do. He said that Odinga tried five times to become Kenya’s president, but he didn’t succeed — even with the massive financial and fanatical support he enjoyed in Kenya.
Ruto or Gachagua
Onyango said that Ruto was the better option for Luos now, because at the other side (Gachagua’s), the national cake has already been shared, with Gachagua taking a whole 50%, and leaving the other 50% to be shared with the rest of Kenyans. Luos, Dennis said, has not been mentioned in that political sharing matrix.
“We cannot produce a candidate who can win the presidency at the moment. So at the moment, you have to either side with Ruto or Gachagua. But where we have the space is with Ruto. That is where we are,” he stated.
Dennis further asked the ODM family to put their house in order now, saying that this is the time for political parties to strategize, plan and organise themselves.
“The party leadership has to provide leadership. People are making plans now ahead of 2027. There is little time remaining; plans must be made now. 2027 will be the real elections,” he stated.
The former PA clarified that those people claiming to have spoken to Raila more than himself aren’t sincere. He said that Raila would question himself who the hell brought that man to him (Raila).
