Wajackoyah Invites Ruto to Roots Party NDC Ahead of 2027 Race

Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah announced that his party will hold a National Delegates Conference (NDC) on Saturday, May 24, 2026.

In a radio interview on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Wajackoyah, who identifies with the “Wantam” movement, invited everyone from across the political spectrum to join the event.

He specifically urged President William Ruto to attend, highlighting that his party welcomes outsiders.

“I prefer not to discuss politics today because of the NDC on Saturday, which is why I’m taking a step back. We will present our policies then. I’ve invited all political leaders from the opposition and the government. We need to come together and hear each other’s views. The president is welcome too,” he stated.

Wajackoyah expressed his ongoing presidential ambitions, confirming his intention to run in the 2027 elections.

This announcement followed his recent commitment to a solo campaign for the 2027 general elections, as he distanced his party from emerging political alliances and the United Opposition front.

During an interview with a local station on Monday, March 16, 2026, he emphasized that the Roots Party operates independently, focusing on its connection with the electorate rather than forming coalitions.

“I’m dedicated to the Roots Party, which is committed to serving the people of Kenya. The Roots Party is officially registered and works for the nation and its citizens,” Wajackoyah stated.

He added that his party’s status as a registered entity under the Political Parties Act prevents it from merging with others unless there is a strategic, party-led decision.

Wajackoyah reaffirmed his goal of becoming president, noting that his message resonates with those dissatisfied with the traditional political landscape.
