UDA Rubbishes Claims of IEBC Compromise Ahead of By-Elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has rejected claims by the United Opposition that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is compromised before this Thursday’s by-elections.

UDA, through its Secretary General Hassan Omar, in a statement issued on the night of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, claimed that the allegations against the electoral body are indicative of panic and an anticipated defeat.

The party labelled the opposition’s claims as “reckless and baseless,” intended to politicise the electoral process and set the stage to dismiss the will of the people.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party is expressing concern over the baseless and reckless accusations made by the opposition regarding the integrity of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in conducting tomorrow’s by-elections. Omar stated that these claims are merely a predictable attempt to politicise the electoral process, thereby laying the groundwork for rejecting the will of the people.

It is evident that the joint opposition has anticipated a decisive loss in the vote. Attacking our democratic institutions whenever they face the prospect of defeat is a worn-out, outdated, corrosive, and uncivilized approach to politics, and an affront to the intelligence of Kenyan voters.

The professionalism and transparency of the IEBC.

UDA argued that the IEBC is an independent constitutional body which has shown consistent professionalism and transparency in the conduct of elections, encompassing the upcoming by-elections in 22 wards and constituencies.

“They have come to realise that their influence is minimal across Kenya, and Kenyans have recognised their persistent empty rhetoric as insincere political tactics.” The voters will give them their due on Thursday, at the ballot box, UDA stated.

“The IEBC is an independent constitutional body responsible for conducting free, fair, and credible elections.” The commission has shown a commendable level of professionalism and transparency in the administration of these by-elections. Suggesting otherwise without any concrete proof would fundamentally erode the base of our democratic system.

UDA’s call to its voters

UDA also called on eligible Kenyan voters to cast their ballots in large numbers, despite the opposition’s allegations of electoral violence and irregularities. The party also urged law enforcement agencies to preserve order and guarantee a safe environment for voters.

“We urge the IEBC to disregard the baseless claims made by our opponents and proceed with carrying out their responsibility of conducting a fair and open electoral process.” The electoral body must expose these sore losers to public shame. The statement expressed confidence in the electoral team.

“In the meantime, we call on Kenyans in wards and constituencies participating in the by-elections to attend in big numbers and exercise their entitlement, disregarding the allegations of violence made by our opponents.”
