Tiktok has informed Kenyan content creators that they must provide their tax information to ensure compliance with Kenya’s tax regulations.
In a recent announcement, TikTok encourages creators to complete the Kenya tax form promptly to meet these requirements. This notification appears under System Notifications and features a “Go to tax form” button, guiding creators to submit their necessary tax details.
The platform emphasizes that this information will help verify creators’ tax responsibilities and enable TikTok to fulfill its payment obligations for earnings generated through the platform.
The tax information form requires creators to input their name, email address, residential address, and country of residence. Additionally, creators must specify whether they are residents or non-residents of Kenya.
TikTok clarifies that the tax information will be applicable to all payouts from current and future programs in which creators participate. “This information allows TikTok and your local tax authorities to verify your tax responsibility and ensure timely payments for your TikTok earnings,” the platform stated.
TikTok urges all affected creators to complete the form as soon as possible to adhere to Kenya’s tax requirements, although the notification does not specify a deadline.
Creators earning through TikTok in Kenya should check their System Notifications to confirm whether they have received this request.
This initiative aligns with other digital platforms implementing Kenya-specific tax obligations for creators. For instance, Google has announced it will withhold a 5% tax on applicable YouTube earnings starting from September 2026, with payments issued in October.
YouTube creators in Kenya must submit their Kenyan Personal Identification Number (PIN) via AdSense by October 1, 2026, to avoid payment delays. Google indicates that the tax details submitted by creators may take three to five business days for review and approval.
Furthermore, Google is obligated to report monthly to the Kenya Revenue Authority, detailing gross payments subject to withholding tax, total amounts withheld, and the creators’ PINs and addresses.
