Gor Mahia, aka the Green Army, have beaten Kenya Police by 0-1 in a crucial title decider match played at Kasarani stadium.

Gor Mahia, popularly known as ‘K’ogalo’ or Green Army, overcame Kenya Police side during the premier League match played in a waterlogged Kasarani stadium in an early kickoff fixture. Both teams found it difficult to settle in the game in earnest, owing to the bad nature of the playing field.

The game went into first half break with both teams not having tasted each side’s net. However, when second half started, both teams looked to have studied each other so well. The Green Army, for instance, started weaving beautiful passes at the heart of the field with the trio of Earnest Wendi, Collins Odhiambo, and Peter Lwasa perfectly complement each other. It was due to the trio’s combination at the heart of the Kenya Police midfield that resulted in the faul, which was taken by defender Dennis Ng’ang’a, targeting Gor’s danger man Benson Omalla.

It was the same head pass which Omalla headed to Austin Odhiambo that the latter converted to a goal by a powerful drive to the roof of the net.

The result now leaves Gor Mahia ahead of Tusker FC, with the brewers also having an outing in Sudi stadium against the gritty Nzoia Sugar FC. By the time of going to press, Nzoia Sugar FC were ahead with a solitary goal after second half.
Both Tusker FC and Gor Mahia, the Green Army, are the current title contenders – with Nzoia coming at a distant third, although are also mathematically in the title contention berth.
