Joho to Lead Raila’s 81st Birthday Tribute Honouring His Legacy

Ali Hassan Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, plans to celebrate the late opposition leader Raila Odinga’s 81st birthday. He calls Odinga a symbol of strength. Odinga’s ideas still guide new leaders.

Joho shared a statement. Leaders and supporters will meet today, January 7. They aim to honor Odinga’s life, his political path, and his lasting role in Kenya’s fight for democracy.

Joho said they will come together to mark Baba Rt. Honorable Raila Amolo Odinga’s 80+1 milestone.

The Cabinet Secretary noted Odinga’s life offers clear lessons on sticking with goals and facing hardship. His long career showed sacrifice and drive, not ease.

Odinga’s path shows strength comes from facing tough times with clear aims, Joho added.

Joho stressed Odinga’s leadership goes beyond his own wins. It lives on in the many people he trained over the years.

His goals took hold in the hearts of those he guided, Joho said.

Joho pointed out the former Prime Minister’s values still shape public life. They live on in younger people through his focus on justice, honest government, and leadership for the people.

His ideas live in us. They show real leadership wakes up new generations, no matter the years served, Joho said.

Raila Odinga served as opposition leader and Prime Minister for decades. He played a big part in Kenya’s shift to multiparty rule and new constitution.

He died on October 15, 2025.

Before that, he led the Orange Democratic Movement party.

Joho served as his deputy party leader. Wycliffe Oparanya, Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary, did too.

Joho spoke as leaders from across Kenya gear up to join Odinga’s family, friends, and backers. They will mark his birthday and think about his impact on politics.

The event will spotlight Odinga’s work in democracy. Speakers will stress how his values still matter in today’s leadership talks.
