Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has emerged as the top opposition presidential aspirant in the latest survey by the Politrack Research Team.
President William Ruto, however, continues to lead the overall presidential preference race with a strong advantage.
Conducted between September 15 and 25, 2026, the survey shows Ruto capturing 45.1 percent of the support, while Sifuna follows with 19.6 percent.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka ranks third with 10.3 percent, and 8.4 percent of respondents remain undecided. Fred Matiang’i stands at 7.2 percent, with Rigathi Gachagua at 6.0 percent.
These results highlight Sifuna as the most favored opposition candidate, nearly doubling Kalonzo’s support. Matiang’i and Gachagua follow closely behind, while other candidates, including Martha Karua and David Maraga at 0.8 percent each, James Orengo at 0.4 percent, and Jimmy Wanjigi at 0.3 percent, received less attention.
Ruto’s 45.1 percent places him 25.5 percentage points ahead of Sifuna in this poll.
Importantly, the survey reveals a significant portion of voters, 8.4 percent, who have yet to choose a candidate.
Politrack targeted potential voters nationwide, collecting data through a user-friendly text-based platform, allowing participants to engage at their convenience.
A total of 20,419 respondents contributed to this survey, which boasts a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of +/-3 percentage points.
The survey also sheds light on party preferences, with Ruto’s UDA leading at 32.0 percent, followed by the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) at 11.7 percent and ODM at 10.6 percent. Jubilee captures 6.9 percent, Wiper 5.6 percent, Kenya Kwanza 3.5 percent, and Azimio 3.2 percent.
As we look ahead to the 2027 election, these Politrack figures offer a valuable snapshot of voter preferences during the survey period, not a definitive election outcome or forecast.
