Shiru Wa GP has opened up about the heartbreaking final moments of her best friend, Betty Bayo, who passed away recently after a long battle with illness. Speaking during a meeting organized to plan Bayo’s burial, the Murigiti hitmaker shared emotional details about their last conversations and her friend’s final wishes.
Shiru revealed that Betty’s health had worsened in the days leading up to her death. She recalled being with Bayo in the hospital, where the singer’s condition became critical. Doctors later explained that Bayo had suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot in her brain. According to Shiru, Betty had complained of extreme fatigue for nearly three years, unaware that it was linked to the illness that would eventually claim her life.
The gospel star said that during her final moments, Bayo made one special request — not to be posted on social media while she was in her vulnerable state. Shiru said this showed how private her friend was, even as she struggled with her health. She described watching her friend’s health deteriorate as “the most painful experience of my life.”
When Bayo was rushed to hospital, Shiru immediately reached out to close friends and fellow musicians, including Ben Githae, Loise Kim, and family members. Sadly, her condition continued to decline despite their prayers and medical attention.
In an emotional promise, Shiru swore that she would take care of Bayo’s young daughter, saying that her late friend would have done the same for her. She also remembered Sky Victor, Bayo’s child, praying for his mother’s healing inside the ambulance — a moment that deeply moved everyone present.
