The Kusi ideas Festival was launched on the morning of 8th December 2020 in Kisumu Kenya. The event under the theme “Towards a Post Covid Africa: Recovering Together” was officially opened by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta who welcomed the Kusi Festival dialogues an important vehicle of promoting Pan African ideas on innovation, recovery and sustainability.
Others who addressed the opening ceremony included President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo and many other distinguished persoanlities.
The Kusi Ideas Festival is a two-day, annual conference launched in Rwanda in 2019 by the Nation Media Group as part of its 60th anniversary celebration to begin building a “Pan-African ideas transaction market” to capitalise on the opportunities and innovations available to Africa. The inaugural event hosted by H.E. President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and featured HE President Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Right Honourable Raila Odinga, High Representative for Infrastructure Development, African Union, and Dr. Vera Songwe, Executive Secretary, UN Economic Commission for Africa among others.
This year’s Festival held under the theme “Towards a Post Covid Africa: RECOVERING TOGETHER” .
