It was all pomp and color as residents of Msambweni trooped in their thousands to welcome the Orange Democratic Party Leader Raila Amollo Odinga together with his counterpart Mombasa Governor Alli Hassan Joho.
Raila’s visit to Msambeweni in Kwale County comes a day after the Deputy President William Samoei Ruto also received a similar reception in Kisii County.While on the tour, Raila pointed out that Kwale is a land full of resources that should be utilized for the full benefit of the residents.
The former Prime Minister also met ODM party members in Kwale county and urged them to uphold party unity ahead of the 2022 General elections.On his side, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho emphasized on the issues affecting coastal people such as devolution, economics, land, resource allocation amongst others.
The two leaders went further to downplay donations and handouts terming them “not sustainable” since a country cannot be governed based on such short term philosophies.According to Joho, the economic stalemate facing our nation requires robust public policies for long term gain.
