Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was accused of being frugal, but Kitutu Chache Member of Parliament (MP) Antony Kibagendi has come out to defend him.
Speaking on Friday, October 25, 2025, on the Alfa House Podcast, Kibagendi emphasized that Raila was a very giving person and said the late leader was wrongly accused of being stingy and unable to assist others. “Yes, Raila Odinga was therefore a giving man,” Kibagendi stressed.
“The current president was among those who called him out here when he was disparaging him and claiming that he was stingy, which is untrue; Raila was a very giving person. Additionally, another student I met informed me that Raila had made a single payment for his tuition,” Kibagendi stated.
He remembered a time during their time in college when he was getting ready for a student leadership campaign and desperately needed money. Raila was carrying Ksh40,000 at the time. To support Kibagendi’s campaign, he gave him Ksh35,000 and put another Ksh5,000 in his pocket.
