Kasmuel McOure, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League, has emphasized the need for a renewed emphasis on service delivery while also defending the party’s Broad-Based partnership with the government.
In his remarks shared on X on November 3, 2025, he highlighted the significance of this arrangement in tackling essential issues and improving prospects for party supporters.
In our efforts to clarify the nature of the Broad-Based arrangement, we are unintentionally putting at risk the service delivery to party members and loyalists who hold various positions within the government, individuals who owe their appointments to this very arrangement. Among these individuals are numerous soldiers, including young appointees who were selected to exemplify the caliber of leadership that ODM would have provided had we been granted the chance to govern the state. (This group includes notable figures such as PSs Cde Fikirini and Dr. Oluga.),” McOure stated, highlighting the tangible advantages for youth and other loyal party members in significant government roles.
The arrangement’s goal was emphasized by McOure as a means of addressing particular regional and developmental needs.
“We understand the nature of this arrangement as a party, and the public is also aware of it. In simple terms: we are collaborating with the government to improve service delivery for our citizens, guided by a Ten-Point Agenda, albeit without the administrative power that a formal coalition would provide,” he stated.
He emphasized the achievements realized under the Broad-Based arrangement, which previous coalition agreements failed to accomplish, even with a larger representation in government.
He also responded to internal dissent, remarking, “We should not disparage party stalwarts who have gone beyond mere words to solidify the Broad-Based concept among the populace, believing that such criticisms somehow bolster ODM. I have particularly observed attempts to undermine key members of our Central Management Committee; Governor Simba Arati, Hon. Junet Mohamed, and our National Chairperson, Governor Gladys Wanga, despite the crucial roles they have played in maintaining the party’s national stability, often at significant personal sacrifice.
Call for Action and Youth Inclusion
McOure asked ODM to put practical plans ahead of political showmanship. “Our message to the general public is clear: we want the party’s top organs to develop a specific plan for youth empowerment and service delivery.
Political theatrics are not necessary. Only observable outcomes will strengthen ODM, he stated. “Let us see a clear pathway for youth inclusion, not just flowery speeches about the color or symbol of our party,” he said, emphasizing youth inclusion and advocating for clear pathways beyond symbolic gestures. We have come this far because, as we all know, we are ChungwaNation. It’s time to put an end to the pointless drama and start making things work.
