Herman Manyora Charged in Nairobi Hospital Tender Fraud Case

Political analyst Herman Manyora faces charges of cheating under Section 315 of the Penal Code. Allegations suggest that he fraudulently acquired Sh516,000 in a Nairobi Hospital tender deal.

On Wednesday, Manyora appeared before Magistrate Paul Mutai at the Milimani Law Courts, where he denied the charges. The court subsequently released him on a personal bond of Sh2 million, requiring two contact persons.

The charge sheet, submitted by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit, outlines that Manyora allegedly deceived complainant Josphine Luceno Kavulani into believing he would facilitate the awarding of a tender.

The charge sheet details, “Between August 15, 2024, and October 30, 2024, in Nairobi County, you used fraudulent tricks to obtain Sh516,000 from Josphine Luceno Kavulani as a fee to facilitate the award of tender number TNH/ITB/016/24/ENGINEERING at Nairobi Hospital to her company, Sipho Construction Limited. This payment would not have occurred without your fraudulent actions.”

Several witnesses are prepared to testify in the case. Among those listed as prosecution witnesses are the complainant Josphine Luceno Kavulani, Gilbert Nyamweha, Margaret Muiyro, Nelson Thiongo, and the investigating officer, among others.

During the court proceedings, Manyora maintained his not guilty plea, leading the court to grant him bond terms as the case moves forward. Magistrate Mutai scheduled a mention of the case for April 13 to provide further directions.
