Health Ministry Vehicle Stolen as Robbery Cases Surge

Police are looking into the robbery of a four-wheel-drive vehicle that belongs to the Health Ministry in Kilgoris, Narok County.

The person driving the car reported that it contained various medicines when it was stolen on Thursday.

Officials stated that the driver had left the vehicle parked outside a place in Kilgoris Town and had gone inside for a drink. While he was there, a stranger joined him for a short while.

During this time, the driver was apparently drugged and taken back to his car by the man, who requested a ride to his home in the town, according to the police.

The driver lost awareness and later woke up in Kipkebe Tea Plantation in Sotik, Bomet County, which is nearly 200 kilometers away.

When he was found the next day, his vehicle and personal belongings were gone.

He was discovered bound at the wrists and ankles and was brought to the local police station, where he filed a report, according to the police.

Afterward, the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment while the investigation continued.

In another incident in Naiberi, Eldoret, a group broke into a house and stole various jewelry, Sh100,000, a laptop, and other valuable items.

This occurred while the family was attending prayers at a mosque on November 8. Police mentioned that the gang arrived in a Toyota Prado and consisted of five members.

In another event, a teacher had Sh280,000 stolen right after he took some cash out from a bank in Nandi Hills Town, Nandi county.

The teacher reported to the police that this theft occurred when the alleged robbers entered his parked car on Friday, November 7, 2025.

He mentioned that he was going to use the money to cover costs for a teachers’ conference scheduled in Mombasa from November 8 to 13.

He had arrived in Nandi Hills town with Sh85,000 and then withdrew an extra Sh174,000 from the bank.

He placed all the money in his bag and went to a nearby petrol station for groceries, leaving the bag in his vehicle.

After just five minutes, he came back to find the passenger door open and realized that his cash, a laptop, a cheque book, and a list of conference attendees were gone.

The police were called and they examined the area. They are now looking at security footage from nearby cameras to gather more details.

Authorities believe that someone close to the teacher might have informed the thieves about the money transactions.
Such crimes have been increasing, even as attempts are made to tackle the issue.

This suggests that there may be an inside connection either within the banks or among people who are familiar with the situation.
