Former Rarieda legislator who is also Siaya gubernatorial candidate Nicolas Gumbo has picked United Democratic Movement (UDM), Secretary General David Ohito as his running mate in the 9th August 2022 elections.
This follows the sudden abandonment of the ticket by former police spokesperson Charles Owino who has been recalled back to the National Police Service where he served as Director of the National Focal Point for Small Arms.
There had been speculations in the last one week that Owino was set to be recalled back to the police service after fears that his involvement in the race was unsettling for the candidature of Senator James Orengo who is the ODM candidate for the Siaya seat as a result of his security connections. Orengo has picked Mr. William Oduol who unsuccessfully ran against the current governor in 2013.
